Team Child Press Conference 2025

Team Childs and Restart Washington invites you to join us for a press conference hosted by TeamChild and our partners from KidsAreKids and Columbia Legal Services.

We adamantly oppose the proposal by Governor Ferguson and DCYF to change the law to allow DCYF to automatically transfer young people from a DCYF Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) facility to the adult prisons under the Department of Corrections when the JR facilities are too crowded. This would roll back a law that was established based on adolescent brain development to allow young people to remain in more rehabilitative facilities and programs while their brains are still malleable.

We are taking a stand to oppose this action, and we invite you to join us to hear directly from community members impacted by this proposal.
